A generator the size of a pocket watch is placed in the upper body. Wires rise the neck from the generator to the vagus nerve. The generator sends little electrical shocks via the vagus nerve to that part of the human brain that is thought to play a role in mood.
A lot more research study is needed to see just how well this operates in children that have depression.
